Windsurfing: Felixstowe dip Wind Direction: wsw Wind Stength: F3 - F4+ Surf / Sea State: flat to bumpy Air Temperature: warm Sea Temperature: warm Weather: warm Max Speed: no gps Distance Covered: 2 1/2 hour (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Ian Ali and me got out today. Ali and Ian about 4 was planing when I
arrived, I was on the water at 5. Mine was 5 star, whilst the other 2 it
was up down then good again at the end. WSW or SW. It was warm, warm warm.
I only have a 9.5 or 7M so had to rig 9.5, whilst they were about 7.0. They
were planing but as I rigged the wind swung slightly off.
Rigged longbd / 9.5 and it was perfect planing at the dip, so headed off to
the docks. One tack got me to the fludge and the poxy wind was full on and
I was way over. Had to flatten outhaul and was lucky to stay on deck for
the next 2 tacks, as I headed for the shelter of the pier and the old
clubhouse.
Lucky the sea was nice there.
The manor end was now howling and the sea was big, so track back, flat sail
and the fab reach out to sea back to the dip.
Weird really because the wind was back at the dip and Ali and Ian was
flying on 7, but the sea was perfect at the dip, with flat sea rolling
trough waves yet everywhere else was well rough. Tide was high so not much
landing area.
Ian chased me down on his Isonic so had to do a crafty gybe as he would
have done the dreaded pass...
5***** evening for me, and although Ali and Ian lost 20 mins as the wind
eased early they had a good sail.
Finished 6.45, the moon was up and it got dark very quick, had to get a
sauna in so sorry Ian had to leave the gate to u :) told u I can move if I
really want to!
